CaveGame
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

VERY IN ALPHA, EXPECT PROBLEMS, HERE BE DRAGONS
Also make sure to read README.txt
Also if you are experiencing everything block being a single colour, that is because the hardware you are using is unsupported, yeah I know that sucks but it seems to be effecting AMD and Intel GPUs. I will be rewriting the graphics code somewhat soon to fix this issue

Immediately Crashes On Start, Help Me!
Read the README.md
I Put In The ENTIRE Textures Folder And It STILL Crashes. Help!
You're not supposed to put the textures folder in, you convert the ,jar to .zip and extract it, after that you go into the assets folder and then copy the folder named, "minecraft" and paste it into resources\java\assets
would be kinda crazy if he accidentally made a four-legged green monster instead of a real animal
yeah but it would look a bit creepy. maybe he should name it creeper
why do people actually expect to play a game written from scratch for x86 on their arm phones
because they know nothing about computers and just think "ooo funny block game clone can joo make it run on my old android phone that is an architecture way different from x86?"
true true…
the post i made a while ago was intended as a joke! i understand how architectures work and how it would be hard to port it to mobile devices that use an arm CPU. didn't know that my post would ACTUALLY get any form of attention
okay buddy
not working even after pasting the minecraft folder. i did the right folder with the mc assets
pretty sure you put the assets folder that is seen inside of the jar file, not the entire god damn minecraft folder
also some versions wont work, for example, 1.21
oh
the blocks are one color is that correct?
they shouldnt be
im using 1.21 and its working numb nuts. even before the update it worked. maybe you did it wrong?
im stupid, i did it manually instead of using the extractor :p
WOOO baby
Pretty nice clone! One little bug report: the game is framerate-dependent. While playing it with my 300hz laptop screen, i noticed at first that the movement is very, VERY fast making the game nearly impossible to play. I also came across a giant button pillar at the spawning point - pretty strange. Other then that, it's one very awesome clone and the graphics are way better then Microsoft did with Bedrock Edition!
the framerate dependency is really easy to fix, it's just a few lines of code to implement a delta time variable that calculates the time between two frames, then multiplying the speed of the player by that variable
pls mobile version so i can play it!
edit: this post was intended as a joke!
i understand how architectures work and how it would be hard to port it to mobile devices that use an arm CPU. didn't know that my post would ACTUALLY get any form of attention
that wont work cause the way they made it
cant, game is written in x86 so he'd have to rewrite the entire game which is very time consuming
Womp to the womp womp
dude’s mom said he can’t swear 😭😭😭
Fuck
I wish my fucking female parental guardian let me swear
lmao
its not written in x86 ASM its using GLFW and C++, it most likely would be possible to compile this for mobile if you wanted to.
oh jeez, didn't realize how this post aged. it was intended as a joke! indicated by the word "pls" and not structuring the sentence very well.
can you make a browser version?
not possible cause the way they made it
...how do you get a game written in c++ running in the web browser?
how do you get an exe file to run on a device that cant run exe files?
web assembly
If you have the source you can compile it for other platforms.
When mobil
wont be possible
noooooo
if he made a mobile port he would have to rewrite the entire game's code to work on arm devices
Not necessarily. A good example is ROBLOX, where the PC, Dedicated Server, and Mobile versions all share the same C++ code, with the main difference being the compiler used. Therefore, if this game is developed in either Java or C++, it is possible to run it on mobile, though it would require some effort.
i think cavegame should add a man with a blue shirt and darker blue pants and white eyes should be added, idk call him hero or sm. and last name should be brian or sm idk.
Oh Yeah, And Make Him Appear In Your World Without Context!
Great idea!
I Think "Brine" Would Be Better As His Last Name.
it does sound better
And it should still be pronounced as "Brian"
Finally!
LETS GOOOO
